Club Announcement Old River And Gregsons no longer SFAS waters from 31st Dec 2024

It is with regret that the club informs you that we have contacted our landlords at both Gregsons and The Old River in Irlam, and given notice that we wish to terminate the clubs leases on both waters as from 31st Dec 2024

The management of both waters is beyond the current capacity of the clubs committee, as the work needed to bring the waters to an acceptable standard – aeration, pegs, general day to day management will take far more time than we are able to commit.

Moving forwards we have been holding discussions with Salford Angling Club, with Salford Council and with Peel that they will take over the running of both lakes from the 1st January 2025 with agreements in principle already in place.

We’ve done a tremendous amount of work since we took the Old River on in 2011 after its previous fish kill, spending hours raising funds for restocking, rebuilding pegs etc, but the latest fish kill, the lack of communication from the Boathouse owners regarding aeration, the litter on Gregsons, plus other stuff mean that its time for people with a fresh outlook and energy to move things forwards. Our energy has been exhausted
